If you look at this type of map, notice Greenland and Brazil and guess which country is bigger.
Greenland is less than 1/2 the size of Brazil, but it looks bigger on this map because of the stupid way they made the map.
Latitude and Longitude. Latitude lines (like the equator) should be all different lengths but on this map they are the same. Longitude lines run from the north pole to the south pole they should all meet at the north pole.
Where on this map is Antarctica? This map only goes to 75 degrees south, so where is the rest of the world? Well they don't show it because it would show up all the way across the bottom of the map.
If you want a world map you should look for an Interrupted Sinusoidal projection map. Then the above points I mentioned would be correct. |

| I read another review on this and I should have listened to it. The list price of I think $29 is more than the sticker on it for $14.99. I thought it would have a nice hard laminate on it, but it was flimsy and it defiantly will need a frame which is impossible to find. Very cheap looking product for the money! |

I was really looking forward to receiving my map to put on the wall in my room here in Tokyo. I know the Rand McNally brand, and figured a $27 wall map would be of at least decent quality. So I thought it would be a great addition to my living space.
However, when it arrived one of the first things I noticed was the label/UPC on the packaging that said $14.95. I had just paid about $27 on . Then when I unwrapped it, I was really bummed about the flimsy quality of the map. It's not so much "laminated" as it is plasticized, decent quality paper. Not at all what I was expecting.
I would send it back, but since I live in Tokyo - and my mother just paid $12 to mail it here - I want to see what other alternatives there might be. I have just sent an e-mail to customer service, so it remains to be seen how this is resolved. I am usually quite happy with 's service (both US and Japan) but this is the first time I have had to complain.
Guess this is one of the perils of buying online, and having things sent all the way around the world. But it seems you should at least be able to count on not having to pay almost a 100% mark-up on the retail price when you buy something through ! |
